Clear Lake is an ideal place to raise your family.
The thriving NASA-Clear Lake Area encompasses approximately 125 square miles
between Houston and Galveston. A 2000-plus acre inlet of Galveston Bay,
Clear Lake is host to hundreds of yachts, sporting boats, and fishing
boats residing in the area's marina slips.
The space race of the 1960's led to the
rapid development of this wonderful community, which has since been the
centerpiece of United States space research and exploration programs.
NASA's inception created a surge of growth that continues to this day.
The Clear Lake area has a rich and diverse economy that is among the
strongest in the state of Texas. The population of Clear Lake totals
200,000, and boasts a workforce of 100,000. The Clear Lake area
consists of nine cities and incorporated towns: Clear Lake City,
Clear Lake Shores, El Lago, Kemah, League City, Nassau Bay, Seabrook,
Taylor Lake Village, and Webster. Each of these cities contribute to
the strong economic structure of the Clear Lake area, featuring aerospace,
technology businesses, petrochemical, retail, health care, educational
institutions, marine and boating, real estate, insurance, small
businesses, and much more.
Excellent school districts and
educational institutions reside in Clear Lake. Clear Creek Independent School District (CCISD)
is among the top school districts in the nation, known for it's prodigious
test scores, low dropout rates, and enormous percentage of students that
continue on with their education and attend college. In addition, the
University of Houston Clear Lake (UHCL) offers programs in advanced
degrees in various disciplines, including over 30 undergraduate and 40
graduate majors.
Clear Lake offers a wealth of state-of-the-art healthcare facilties
including Clear Lake Regional Medical Center and St. John's Hospital. There are also hundreds of physicians in private practice,
including many specialists.There are plenty of
recreational attractions in Clear Lake including: golf, fishing,
boating, waterfront dining, the Armand Bayou Nature Center, Space Center
